{"id":9514,"date":"2018-10-28T12:18:12","date_gmt":"2018-10-28T12:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/comchurch.org.uk\/?p=9514"},"modified":"2018-10-28T12:18:12","modified_gmt":"2018-10-28T12:18:12","slug":"name-and-shame-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elegant-germain.77-68-99-159.plesk.page\/index.php\/2018\/10\/28\/name-and-shame-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Name and Shame[-free]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What are your thoughts when you hear the word <em>\u201cshame\u201d<\/em>?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Does it make you feel all excited and keen to read more? My guess is, probably not! Shame is not exactly a hot topic and often it is the very essence of the word that keeps us from talking about it. Ready to delve in and uncover the truth about shame?<\/p>\n<p>No one is exempt from shame &#8211; at one point or another we will all have come face to face with it. Sometimes it\u2019s rightful shame, when we have sinned and it causes us to seek repentance; and sometimes it\u2019s shame that has been imposed on us wrongfully, when something was done to us that was out of our control. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the type of shame, when it remains in us and isn\u2019t dealt with it becomes extremely destructive. It makes us feel inadequate, unworthy of love, flawed. Does that sound familiar? Is your undealt shame keeping you from being fully open to God &#8211; are you hiding from Him and others around you because you feel you are not enough? You don\u2019t measure up? You are not pure?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I have great news for you! <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>When Jesus died on the cross, He \u201cendured the cross, despising the shame\u201d <i>(Hebrews 12:2 ESV)<\/i>. He not only died for our sins, but also took on the consequences of sin &#8211; shame. He took on the shame that was meant for us, so we don\u2019t have to!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Wow, how incredible is that!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This verse says it another way, \u201cThere is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.\u201d <em>(Romans 8:1-2 ESV).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s time to come out of hiding; to take off those chains we have put on ourselves; to stand tall again, confident in God\u2019s unconditional, healing, accepting, forgiving, embracing love. His love covers us and makes us worthy, makes us pure, makes us whole.<\/p>\n<p>No matter what you have done, what has been done to you, where you have been &#8211; no matter how bad, how ugly, how unthinkable &#8211; it is on the cross. Leave it there, stop punishing yourself and receive your freedom!<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s only once you have laid down every last ounce of shame, that you can fully accept God\u2019s love and live the full life that He wants you to experience.
